ASIA PACIFIC DIVISION

To meet the objectives of the Republic of Kiribati under the Kiribati Development Plan and to uphold the mission and vision of the Ministry Policy, the Asia Pacific Division was established to oversee the current affairs of the Asia and the Pacific region. To accomplish this, the Division is simply driven by their objective to “CONNECT”.

CONNECT means to Create Opportunities & Network through Negotiations to Establish Close Ties

The Division has diplomatic relations with 31 countries across the globe; 14 countries from the Asian Region (Brunei, Mongolia, Indonesia, Thailand, Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, Maldives, India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Peoples Republic of China, Republic of Korea and Japan) and 16 from the Pacific Region (Fiji, New Zealand, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Vanuatu, Nauru, Tonga, Niue, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Palau, French Polynesia and ). In progressing the objectives of the Division, the Ministry recruits 3 staff members to ensure that current diplomatic relations are strengthened as well as establishing new diplomatic relations for the benefit of Kiribati as a whole.
