In accordance with the Leaders’ decision at the Special Smaller Island States Leaders Meeting on 24 June 2016 in Palau, for an SIS officials’ Attachment Programme at the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and further recognition by SIS Leaders in Nauru of the importance of the Attachment Programme as a capacity-building support mechanism, the Secretariat invites Expressions of Interest to participate in the Attachment Programme for 2020.
- Please be advised that the first cohort for the 2020 Attachment Programme is expected to commence 1 February 2020 for a duration of six months, with one participant each from two SIS member countries.
- In brief, the Forum Secretariat will fund the return travel, accommodation, basic medical expenses, and daily living allowance for the duration of the Attachment Programme for the successful applicants only. The details of entitlements will be provided in a Secondment Agreement to be signed between the Forum Secretariat, the successful applicant, the applicant’s employer, and the Forum Official Country Focal Point respectively.
- Please note that the selection of candidates will be assessed from the pool of EOIs received by the stipulated deadline, with preference given to those countries that have yet to send a candidate. Members are therefore encouraged to submit a principal applicant and an alternate applicant, following robust national selection processes in order to fully maximize the opportunity provided by this initiative. Unsuccessful applicants for this cohort will not be automatically deferred but will be advised accordingly and also invited to submit EOIs for subsequent cohorts when the next round of invitations are circulated.
- To submit an Expression of Interest, kindly complete the attached Registration Form. The Forum Secretariat encourages Members to take into consideration the ‘whole-of-government’ approach to the SIS Strategy when considering candidates for the Attachment Programme.
Please submit Expressions of Interest by Monday, 2 December 2019 or earlier to Ms. Tasha Siaosi, SIS Adviser, firstname.lastname@example.org. Please note that to ensure the timeliness of arrangements, late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.
